2026 presidential ballot paper (partial)
Detailed analysis of the voting ballot specimen. Four days before early voting, it is confirmed: there are more candidates on the list.
The elections presidential they will take place on the 18th of January but, for many people (like Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa), they will take place this Sunday.
January 11th is the day of , an alternative with many “supporters”: in last year’s legislative elections, more than 300 thousand people voted a week before.
We looked at the ballot paper. Or better yet, a copy of the bulletin, which is available on the website.
And, four days before the vote for thousands of people, we confirmed what António José Seguro’s candidacy had last week: there are 14 candidates in the document. When in fact there are 11.
This is because the bulletin was created before the Constitutional Court had the candidacies of Joana Amaral Dias, Ricardo Sousa and José Cardosodue to irregularities. At issue were documents and the minimum number of signatures.
But the ballot paper really has these three candidate candidates. In fact, Ricardo Sousa is the first on the list.
Joana Amaral Dias appears in fourth place, with her full name, and then we notice that her name is… Terrinca. Joana Beatriz Nunes Vicente Amaral Dias Terrinca. 7 names.
The curiosities regarding the names don’t end there: Who is the candidate Eduardo? In fact, Jorge Pinto is called Eduardo Jorge Costa Pinto.
There are two Gonçalves in the list. Although we do not know any of the candidates with that name: Manuel João Vieira is Manuel João Gonçalves Rodrigues Vieira, while Marques Mendes is Luís Manuel Gonçalves Marques Mendes.
There are also two Amaral: Joana Amaral Dias, already mentioned, and André Ventura, who is André Claro Amaral Ventura.
António Filipe has an unusual surname, or even rare in Portugal: Gaião. António Filipe Gaião Rodrigues.
But, if we want a really rare nickname, it’s one of Gouveia e Melo. Here is his full name: Henrique Eduardo Passaláqua of Gouveia e Melo.
