Moraes annuls CFM investigation into Bolsonaro – 01/07/2026 – Politics

The minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) declared null this Wednesday (7) the inquiry opened by the CFM (Federal Council of Medicine) to investigate the conditions of medical care provided to the former president () during his arrest at the PF headquarters in Brasília.

The federal body had ordered this Wednesday to the Regional Council of Medicine of the Federal District “the immediate opening of an investigation” and stated, in a note, that the patient should be guaranteed “medical assistance with multiple specialties”.

In a decision, however, Moraes stated that “the illegality and lack of correctional competence of the CFM in relation to the Federal Police is flagrant, clearly demonstrating the misuse of the purpose of the determination, in addition to total ignorance of the facts.”

The rapporteur also blocked any procedure by the authority, at national or local level, with this objective and determined that the Federal Police listen to the president of the CFM, José Hiran da Silva Gallo, about the measure that had been announced.

Finally, Moraes ordered the director of the DF Star Hospital to forward all medical exams and reports regarding the exams carried out by Bolsonaro this Wednesday to the Supreme Court within 24 hours.

The CFM had stated that the autonomy of the attending physician is sovereign in defining therapeutic conduct, and cannot suffer any type of external interference.

“The formal receipt of complaints filed with the CFM express concern about the guarantee of adequate medical assistance to the patient. Furthermore, public declarations of reports about clinical complications cause extreme concern to Brazilian society,” said the CFM in a statement.
