The comet destroyed a large part of the Earth. How do people cope with life?

In 2020, the first part of the American disaster film directed by Ric Roman Waugh was released. Positive response from critics and numbers attractive to the audience foreshadowed its future continuation. We waited – the Slovak premiere is planned for January 8, 2026. The solid blockbuster once again follows the efforts of John Garrity (Gerard Butler) to protect his loved ones and provide them with an acceptable life on a planet that was destroyed by the fragments of a giant comet.

The plot, which takes place in the near future, follows on from the first part, in which the world as we knew it collapsed due to a cosmic threat. The chosen persons were then given the chance to hide in a refuge located in Greenland. Convincing performances by Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin will once again draw the audience into the exciting plot. Director Ric Roman Waugh also surrounded himself with an acclaimed creative team in the sequel, including screenwriter Chris Sparling.

Even five years after the impact of the large comet fragment, the Earth is still facing the consequences of this devastating impact. Radiation storms are raging on the surface, which mean new threats to the survivors. Rough seas with high waves also cause enormous damage. They avoid only one location in France. The crater there represents a new refuge for John’s family. However, getting there will not be easy at all. Excellent effects, elaborate disaster scenes and an engaging story recording a detailed analysis of family relationships predestined The Last Hideout 2 to the success of the first part.
