Member of the Malard County Police Department “suffered stab wounds with a knife during riot control”, the Fars agency reported, adding that an investigation is currently underway in an attempt to identify the perpetrators.
The latest riots broke out in Iran on December 28 after the traders in Tehran staged a protest against rising prices and the collapse realwhich prompted similar actions in other cities.
According to AFP data, based on official statements and local media, sa demonstrations spread to 25 of Iran’s 31 provinces and claimed dozens of victims, including members of the security forces.
The demonstrations represent a new challenge for the Iranian government amid a deep economic crisis. It is the most serious unrest since nationwide protests in 2022-23 sparked by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Aminí in police custody. The morality police detained her for allegedly violating the strict dress code for women.
