The President of the United States, Donald Trump, said, this Wednesday (7), that Venezuela will only buy products made in the USA with oil money. “I have just been informed that Venezuela will ONLY and EXCLUSIVELY purchase products made in the United States with the money it receives from our new oil agreement,” Trump posted on his Truth Social network. “These purchases will include, among other things, American agricultural products and medicines, medical devices and equipment manufactured in the United States to improve Venezuela’s electrical grid and energy facilities,” he added.
The announcement comes one day after the Republican reported that the Venezuelan interim government has agreed to distribute up to 50 billion barrels of oil to the United States, of which Trump assured that he will be responsible for managing the money for the benefits of Venezuelans and Americans.
According to the republication, this decision means that Venezuela is committed to doing business with the United States and making the country its main partner. “A wise and very good choice for the people of Venezuela and the United States,” he wrote.
Subjected to an oil blockade, and with deposed president Nicolás Maduro in a New York prison, Venezuela announced this Wednesday that it is negotiating with Washington the sale of “volumes of oil”, a natural resource that the Trump administration guarantees it will control “indefinitely”.
