Volkswagen ID.Unyx 08
VW’s ID.UNYX sub-brand has adopted a “in China, for China” strategy, and the new ID.Unyx 08 continues that line as an electric SUV built exclusively for the Chinese market – at least for now.
Volkswagen’s new electric ID.Unyx 08 is interesting.
To begin with, there is autonomy. The SUV will be offered with two LFP battery options: 82 kWh and 95 kWh. Depending on the version, these provide a declared autonomy of 630 kilometers and 685 kilometersrespectively. And that’s not all.
According to , thanks to an 800 V electrical architecture, the ID.Unyx 08 supports ultra-fast charging. Depending on the battery, it can receive DC fast charging of over 300 kW, allowing refueling from 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes. . Tone is willing.
Power comes from a propulsion system that produces up to 230 kW (308 hp)with buyers being able to choose between rear-wheel drive configurations with one engine or all-wheel drive with two engines.
VW co-developed the hardware for this midsize SUV with Xpeng, and the design clearly departs from traditional aesthetic language from Volkswagen. A coupe-like roofline, recessed door handles, a closed front end and slim daytime running lights all align with current trends of electric vehicle design.
With approximately 5 meters longthe ID.Unyx 08 is just a few millimeters shorter than the Kia EV9. A wheelbase of 3,030 millimeters suggests that the cabin should be spacious.
When it comes to technology, says Car News China, the ID.Unyx 08 will include assisted driving, a artificial intelligence assistant powered by an advanced language model, a full suite of L2++ level driver assistance and full remote updates.
And little else is known, as Volkswagen itself has not yet officially detailed the SUV — nor whether it will ever be on sale in Europe.
