A young couple found dead in a car with the heating on and parked in a garage in Soria | Spain

Two young people who were stuck in a car parked in a garage in the capital of Soria lost their lives this Thursday afternoon. The first indications point to an accidental death due to carbon monoxide inhalation poisoning, since the victims, a 25-year-old boy and a 22-year-old girl, had the heating turned on when a family member found them unconscious inside the car. This relative called the emergency services, who were unable to save their lives. The autopsy will determine more details about what happened.

The alert call from the relative of the two deceased was received at 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, as reported by the 112 Emergency system of Castilla y León. He reported that he had found two people unconscious, a man and a woman, “inside a car, parked in a private garage on Nuestra Señora de Calatañazor street, in the capital of Soria.” The service sent a mobile ICU and a basic life support ambulance in addition to informing the Local Police and the National Police. The assistance team went to the home and, despite attempts to revive the two young people, they had to confirm the double death.

“Everything seems to indicate that the death could have occurred due to accidental carbon monoxide poisoning,” includes the statement from the Government subdelegation in Soria, which reported the events.

The two bodies have been transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Soria where an autopsy will be performed. The National Police continues with the investigation, from which there has been no news this Friday.

The mayor of Soria and PSOE candidate to preside over the Junta de Castilla y León, Carlos Martínez, has expressed his condolences on social networks. “All my support and condolences to the families and loved ones of the young man and woman who died today in Soria. When tragedy hits such young people, it is, if possible, even more painful.”

On January 1, three people, one of them a minor, died in Linares (Jaén) after inhaling carbon monoxide from a picon brazier that they had used to heat the room.
