Apples in cake is a delicious dessert or snack that delights with its simplicity and taste. Juicy, slightly sour apple slices immersed in a delicate, crunchy dough, fried until golden, tempt with their aroma and appearance.
They are very warming, so they are perfect in winter when you are looking for unique snacks. You can successfully enrich the dough with spices such as cinnamon, ginger or cloves.
- 1 large sour apple,
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice,
- 1 egg, size L or XL,
- 125 ml of sparkling water,
- 1 pinch of salt,
- 100 g of wheat flour.
Additionally:
- water for soaking,
- oil for deep frying,
- powdered sugar for sprinkling.
In a large bowl, mix lemon juice and water. Peel the apple and cut into round slices about 5 mm thick, with the core inside. Cut the core into a doughnut shape. Place the slices in a bowl.
Separate the egg white from the yolk. Beat the egg white until stiff.
In another bowl, beat the yolk with sugar, carbonated water and salt. Mix in the flour with a whisk, making sure there are no lumps. Gently add the egg white foam using a silicone spatula.
Heat 5 cm of oil in a pan to 180 degrees Celsius. Take a slice of apple, dry it with a paper towel and dip it in the prepared dough. Shake off the excess and carefully place the apples in the fat.
Fry the apples in the batter until golden brown, turning them occasionally. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with a paper towel. Cool for a while and then serve warm. You can sprinkle the slices with powdered sugar.
Serve the apples immediately after preparation. Store leftovers in the fridge and use within 2 days.
