According to the manager, despite the initial desire to open the space by the end of March, the schedule needed to be adjusted due to the complexity of the work. He explained that it is a large construction, with several structures, many technical details and three floors, which makes delivery within the initially scheduled deadline unfeasible.
“First of all, how I would like to see this project inaugurated by the end of March. We see that it is impossible, a very large project, with many structures, many details, a three-story project”, he stated.
Even with the partial delay, Bocalom assessed the progress of the structural part as positive and the expected completion of the roof by the end of March, which will allow work to continue even during the rainy season.
“I believe that by the end of March we will have the structure ready and covered. This is already a good sign, because the final finish is always more complicated. But, being covered, certainly, even in rain, we can work”, he added.
The mayor also highlighted the historical impact of the work on the center of Rio Branco, remembering the precarious conditions of the old market and projecting a new standard for the space, inspired by large Brazilian capital markets.
“It is a work that will remain for the rest of your life as a great work that decorated, that gave quality to this center of Rio Branco and also gave quality to the people who passed through this market here. God willing, it will be a market like the markets in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasília”, he declared.
For Bocalom, the new Elias Mansour Market should consolidate itself as one of the capital’s main postcards, as municipal markets are usually mandatory stops for visitors.
“The municipal market is where everyone who visits the municipality, the city, always looks for the market. So, this market here will be our biggest calling card”, he highlighted.
