Honduran opposition deputy injured by explosive that hit her in the head

An opposition deputy from the government of Honduras was injured this Thursday following an attack with an explosive outside the National Congress, in the country’s capital, Tegucigalpa.

The images show the moment when deputy Gladis Aurora López was hit in the head by an explosive device thrown from a distance, which ended up exploding very close to him. She was injured in the back, but it is not life-threatening.

Num the National Party condemns “all acts of political violence that threaten the life, integrity and democratic institutions of the country”.

Tomás Zambrano, the party’s parliamentary leader, demanded an independent investigation to identify and hold those responsible for the attack accountable.
