“January 8th, never again”, says Fachin

The president of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), minister Edson Fachin, stated this Thursday (8) that “January 8th, never again”, when speaking about the attacks on the headquarters of the Three Powers.

“What we are saying here with one voice is that January 8th will never happen again,” he said.

Fachin also reiterated that those responsible for the undemocratic acts “were sanctioned in a series of trials”, led by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF.

“I reiterate our understanding according to which acts were carried out, responsibilities were established, evidence was produced in light of the broad defense and those responsible were sanctioned in a series of trials”, declared the president of the STF.

For Fachin, the idea that “those who pay attention to democracy must answer for the attack they committed” guided the convictions.
