The Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro
Lying to Parliament, in the USA, would lead to a process aimed at dismissal, recalls José Luís Carneiro.
Luís Montenegro took advantage of the first fortnightly debate of the year in the Assembly of the Republic to announce the “biggest investment of the decade” in ambulances.
The Government approved the acquisition of 275 new vehicles for INEMin an investment of 16.8 million eurosannounced the Prime Minister, who lamented the deaths of people who did not receive timely help.
“I want to start by expressing, on behalf of the Government, our condolences to the families of the people who died in the last few hours and who did not have the quickest response from the emergency system, despite the reinforcement made in the Setúbal and Lisbon region that involves all available ambulances”, said Montenegro.
The Prime Minister then announced that the PSD/CDS-PP Government approved on Wednesday “the acquisition of 275 new vehicles for INEM in an investment totaling 16.8 million euros”. In total there will be 163 ambulances, 34 VMER and 78 other vehicleshowever, indicated a Government source.
Did you cheat or were you cheated?
But, after all, the biggest investment of the decade started in 2023even when Antonio Costa he was prime minister.
The informs that the process of purchasing ambulances has already started in November 2023. Vehicles must be ready close to the Summer this year.
The process should still take three to six months: the brands that win the competition still have to transform the vehicles into ambulances or medical vehicles.
I.e, there will be no new ambulances this winter particularly problematic.
The PS demands an explanation: “The prime minister owes the country an answer. was deceived by the services and, if you were deceived, what are you going to do to take responsibility and for this service to take responsibility, or were you aware and decided to omit this information and, if you did so, parliament failed to tell the truth and that is very serious”, said José Luís Carneiro, this Friday.
The socialist leader argued that lie to parliament “in USA of America gave a ‘impeachment’ [processo com vista à destituição] of the President” and that this “is unacceptable in a qualified democracy”.
