Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), asked this Friday, the 9th, that the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) respond within five days on requests from the defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for him to have a Smart TV, participate in the program and receive religious assistance in prison.
Gonet is also expected to comment on the request from Senator Damares Alves, president of the Senate Human Rights Commission, to inspect the former president’s cell.
The nominates two names for spiritual accompaniment: Bishop Robson Lemos Rodovalho, founder of Sara Nossa Terra, and Pastor Thiago de Araújo Macieira Manzoni. The defense maintains that the service would be individual, supervised and would not interfere with the unit’s routine or pose a safety risk.

Regarding the request for access to television, according to the petition, the use of the device would be restricted to monitoring news channels, including through streaming platforms widely used to broadcast journalistic content, such as YouTube, on a strictly informative basis.
“Access to the media, especially journalistic and informative programming, represents a legitimate instrument for preserving the bond between the custodian and the social, political and institutional reality of the country,” the lawyers wrote.
According to the defense, the television set would be provided by family members of the former president and installed in the General Staff room where he is kept.
Damares already mentions as a precedent the inspection carried out in 2018 by the Senate Human Rights Commission at the Federal Police premises in Curitiba, during the custody of then former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). At the time, parliamentarians had judicial authorization to check the conditions at the site, in an initiative that, according to the document, observed the principle of equality.
