A canceled its first spacewalk of the year this Thursday (8) and may bring the crew back from the International Space Station early due to a medical problem on board. The spacewalk was scheduled for Thursday, but was postponed because of an unspecified medical problem involving an astronaut, who was not identified.
NASA said the crew member is stable, but that it is “actively evaluating all options,” including ending the mission early. “We will provide new information within the next 24 hours.”
“Conducting our missions safely is our highest priority,” NASA spokeswoman Cheryl Warner said in a statement. The crew, made up of four astronauts – American, Japanese and Russian – has been in the orbital laboratory since August, after launching from Florida.
