OpenAI launches ChatGPT Health, a new ChatGPT tool just for healthcare

A functionality does not replace doctors, nor is it intended to diagnose or treat diseases. The objective of ChatGPT Health is to help people perceive patterns of health and well-being or understand test results.

OpenAI announced the launch of ChatGPT Health, a new aspect of ChatGPT dedicated solely to health and well-being. At the moment, it is not yet available in Portugal, but the company intends to make the tool available to all users “in the coming weeks”.

According to the health is one of the most frequent searches in the ChatGPT. Every week, more than 230 million people from all over the world ask questions related to health and well-being.

The features of the tool that do not replace doctors

A OpenAI underlines that to functionality does not replace the role of doctorsnor is it intended to diagnose or treat diseases. The goal is to help people perceive patterns of health and well-being.

The space allows users to have more useful, personalized and contextualized answers if they enter medical records and wellness app datalike and MyFitnessPal ou a Apple Health.

The entry of this data is “secure”, guarantees the ‘parent’ company. Medical records and application data may be removed at any time.

According to OpenAI, the artificial intelligence tool can help understand patterns over time or exam resultsdealing with ‘day to day’ issues, preparing appointments with the doctor or making recommendations about nutrition and exercise.

Developed in collaboration with doctors from 60 countries

A tool was developed in “close collaboration” with doctorsexplains OpenAI, which says it has worked with more than 260 of these healthcare professionals from 60 countries and dozens of specialties over two years.

It will be an autonomous platform “with enhanced privacy” within the ChatGPTas users share personal and sensitive information.

“ChatGPT Health builds on ChatGPT’s strong privacy, security and data controls, with additional layered protections designed specifically for healthcare – including encryption from the ground up to keep health conversations private and compartmentalized,” OpenAI adds.

Who can have access to the tool?

Access is currently limited. According to only a small group of users with accounts ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus and Pro can have access to “test” the tool.

At this initial stage, users from the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom are excluded.

However, the company plans make the tool available to all users “in the coming weeks”as “improvements” are made.

Additionally, the entry of medical records and application data will only be available in the United States for now.
