Palmeiras took no notice of Batalhão-TO and scored a historic 9-0 defeat, on Thursday night (8), in the second round of the 2026 Copinha group stage. The result sent Verdão to the knockout stage of the base competition.
Eduardo Conceição was the highlight of Palmeiras at Arena Barueri, with four goals scored. Sorriso also drew attention for scoring a hat-trick. Victor Gabriel and Rafael Coutinho completed the scoring.
In a confusion at the end of the first half, Arthur, from Palmeiras, and Acklla, from Batalhão, received a red card and are suspended for the next round.
The historic rout equals the biggest score ever scored by Palmeiras in the Copinha. In the 2025 edition, the team also won a 9-0 victory, against Náutico-RR.
With the result, Verdão reached six points and leads group 27 of the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. Remo and Monte Roraima total three, while Battalion did not score any points.
Palmeiras’ next match will be against Remo, on Sunday (11), at 11am (Brasília time). A draw guarantees first place for the team from São Paulo — they can even be defeated and must qualify based on goal difference (11 difference to the other teams that are still competing for a place in the next phase).
