A Russian drone attack killed four people and left at least 19 injured, causing damage to homes and infrastructure in Kiev, in the early hours of Friday (9), Ukrainian authorities said.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Ukrainian capital’s military administration, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram that four people died in the attacks, which began shortly before midnight local time (7 p.m. in Brasília).
Klitschko said 19 people were injured, 14 of whom were receiving treatment in hospitals.
One of the fatal victims, according to Klitschko, was a paramedic who had arrived at an apartment on the outskirts hit by two drones in sequence. Four members of the same team were injured in this incident.
Two residential buildings were hit on the east bank of the Dnipro River, causing extensive damage, he said. In one of the buildings, the entire entrance was destroyed, and a tall building was also seriously damaged in a central neighborhood.
Klitschko said the attack “caused damage to critical infrastructure, with interruptions to water supplies in some districts.”
Tkachenko said one drone caused a fire in a shopping center, while another crashed in front of a medical facility. Both officials said fires broke out in several districts of the city.
An air alert was in effect for five hours.
Another Russian attack hit an infrastructure target in the western region of Lviv, local officials said on Friday.
