Pahlavi on social networks he described the American president as a “man of peace” and a person who keeps his word. “Please be prepared to intervene to help the people of Iran,” continued Pahlavi, while not specifying what the intervention should be. In his post, Pahlavi pointed to the violence of the security forces against the demonstrators, but also to the interruption of the Internet connection.
According to Pahlavi, Iran’s supreme spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei fears the end of his “criminal regime”. he threatens the people in the streets with a brutal suppression of protests and wants to use the internet outage to kill “these young heroes.”
Pahlavi also recalled his own appeals to the people of Iran to take to the streets in large numbers to fight for their freedom. “They did last night. Your threat to this criminal regime also kept the regime’s thugs at bay.” he stated, referring to Trump. Last week, the American president warned Tehran that if the Iranian security forces shoot at peaceful protestors, the United States will come to the aid of these demonstrators.
The Shah’s son, who lives in the US, has repeatedly supported the protests that broke out in Tehran on December 28. and have since spread to other areas of the Islamic Republic.
The government shut down the Internet and international telephone connections due to the ongoing protests. The Internet has been down for 24 hours, Netblocks, an organization that monitors cyber security and Internet governance, announced on Friday. The Iranian Human Rights Organization (IHRNGO) claims that 51 demonstrators, including nine children, have already died during the protests. Hundreds of other people were injured.
On Friday, Khamenei accused the protesters of acting on behalf of Trump. According to him, the hands of the American president are “stained with the blood” of more than a thousand Iranians, adding that the American leader will be “overthrown” just like the imperial dynastywhich ruled Iran until the 1979 revolution.
