For a long time, ChatGPT’s position seemed unassailable: the chatbot that triggered the current AI hype phase had a market share of almost 90 percent for several years. A dominance that was manifested not least in the fact that the name ChatGPT was used by many as a synonym for AI chatbots – similar to what has long been the case with Google and search engines.
