released this Friday (9), the single I Just Might, a track that opens the work of The Romantic, the singer’s new studio album. The song arrived on all streaming platforms accompanied by a music video and marks the beginning of a new stage in the artist’s career after a period dedicated to collaborative projects.
The album The Romantic is scheduled for release on February 27th and will be Bruno Mars’ first individual studio work since 24K Magic, released in 2016 by the Atlantic Records label. Since then, the singer has been involved in collaborations and side projects that have expanded his artistic activities in recent years.
At the beginning of the week, Mars confirmed that the album is already finished. “My album is ready”, he wrote on his profile on X (formerly Twitter). Although few official details have been released so far, the project is already generating expectations and was highlighted by the Hits Daily Double portal, in March last year, as the biggest of the singer’s career.
The music video for I Just Might reinforces the new work’s authorial proposal. In production, Bruno Mars appears leading the performance on different fronts, with his image multiplied between microphone, string instruments, drums and percussion. The aesthetics of the video follow the idea of the artist’s direct involvement in the sound and visual construction of the track.
In the lyrics, the singer adopts the traditional good-humored tone when addressing meetings and attraction, with verses that make reference to the relationship between appearance and rhythm.
In one of the excerpts, he sings: “I must say that your face left me very intrigued / But what good is beauty if your butt can’t find the rhythm? / It would break my heart / If I found out that you couldn’t move”.
I Just Might works less like a business card and more like a conscious presentation choice. By opting for a track that balances humor, rhythm and technical control, Mars indicates that The Romantic is not intended to be a project of rupture, but of refinement.
The artist’s new work seems interested in organizing references and reaffirming identity.
What is known about ‘The Romantic’
The album cover shared by the singer on social media references a photo taken during Mars’s visit to Brazil in 2024, when the singer completed an extensive concert schedule, with more than ten performances in five cities across the country.
To promote the new project, the artist also confirmed the first dates of The Romantic Tour. So far, 38 shows are planned in North America and Europe, with their debut scheduled for April 10, in Las Vegas.
The tour will feature special appearances by Anderson Paak, who takes on the alter ego DJ Pee. Wee, as well as Leon Thomas, Raye and Victoria Monét.
Regarding the possibility of including songs from the Silk Sonic project, created alongside Paak, Bruno commented on the singer’s page in a relaxed tone: “I’ll sing some Silk Sonic songs with you on the tour if you don’t irritate me!! But you’ll probably irritate me, so let it go. Now I’m already irritated”, he joked.
