Iran’s exiled crown prince has called for a two-day strike across the country, which has been the scene of more than 10 days of anti-government protests.
The exiled opponent appeared to address the protesters in a video published on the platform, calling on “workers and employees in key sectors of the economy — especially transport, oil and gas and energy — to start a national strike” starting this Saturday (10), the day that marks the beginning of the work week in Iran.
His video address comes during an internet blockade imposed by the , implemented amid a wave of protests across the country.
“I also ask all of you to come to the streets today and tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday (January 10 and 11)… to come to the streets with national flags, images and symbols and to claim public spaces as yours,” he said.
“The objective is to prepare to take the city centers and keep them under your control,” he added, saying that Friday’s protests (9) sent a powerful message to the leaders of the .
