Defended by names close to the president to replace him at the Ministry of Justice, the coordinator of the legal group Prerogativas, states that there was no formal invitation for the position, but that he intends to continue working in civil society.
“I am absolutely at peace with this succession. I believe that the president will make the best choice possible and that he has great options to allow the government to continue moving forward in the face of public security challenges and other issues related to the Ministry of Justice”, he tells the Panel.
Carvalho says he is honored by the memory. “But I think the president imagines that I can fulfill another role,” he said. “I intend to continue in civil society, where I want to help President Lula win in the 2026 elections, defeating Bolsonarism once and for all.”
The lawyer also defends the , but says that the measure depends on the approval of the , currently being processed in the Chamber of Deputies. “It is essential that the roles of federative entities are rigorously defined, so that the government can, in fact, advance in the fight against crime and so that it can effectively confront the problems of public security in the states and in the country”, he says.

Despite the preference of the PT wing, which includes former presidents of the party and people close to Lula, allies say that the coordinator of the legal group has discouraged support by prioritizing the construction of platforms for the PT member’s re-election.
