Teams from the Riot Police Battalion and the Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE) located at least three bodies buried in a forested area in Morro da Boa Vista, in São José, Greater Florianópolis, this Friday morning (9/1). The discovery came after a complaint indicated that the site was being used as a clandestine cemetery.
The bodies were buried approximately one and a half meters deep, in the highest part of the hill. The operation mobilized specialized teams from the Santa Catarina Military Police (PMSC), with support from the Canil and the 7th Military Police Battalion, who assisted in the searches and security of the area.
After confirming the findings, the site was immediately isolated to preserve possible traces. The Civil Police and Scientific Police were called to carry out legal procedures, including technical expertise and the collection of bodies. Authorities are also investigating whether the remains are linked to the case of young people kidnapped in Morro do Mocotó, in Florianópolis, earlier this year.
During the operation, a suspect who would have been recognized by victims was located in the region. During the approach, the police found drugs and ammunition, which were seized. The man was taken to the Police Duty Center by the specialized BOPE garrison.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the victims, clarify the circumstances of the deaths and determine whether there are other bodies buried at the site.
