In winter, when it gets dark quickly and it’s cold outside, we like to spend evenings reading a book or watching a TV series. It’s worth while away the time with a cup of hot winter tea. Enrich it with specific additives that will make it taste better and, above all, make it a warming infusion.
By preparing a warming infusion, we can diversify the taste of our favorite tea, but above all, we can naturally support the body’s immunity. It is worth drinking it in winter, when low temperatures favor infections and colds.
What to add to winter tea to give it warming properties? Here is the list of extras:
- – has a disinfecting, anti-inflammatory, expectorant and warming effect. It is worth adding it to tea, especially during colds, because it increases sweating and helps in the treatment of throat inflammation;
- cloves – they are a natural antifungal agent. They have expectorant properties and can relieve sore throats;
- anise – has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, helps regulate digestion. It has a soothing effect on the respiratory system;
- cinnamon – apart from warming you up, it also has a disinfecting effect on the respiratory tract. Moreover, it accelerates metabolism;
- honey – perfect tea sweetener, sugar alternative. It has antibacterial and antiviral properties, soothes mucous membrane irritations and supports digestion;
- rosemary – has fungicidal and antibacterial properties, strengthens immunity, relieves headaches and tension, supports digestion;
- oranges – contain vitamin C and antioxidants that support the body in the fight against infections and colds. They have a relaxing effect and can reduce stress and tension.
Ingredients:
- 250 ml of water;
- 1 teaspoon of black or green tea;
- 4 cloves;
- 2 star anise;
- 2 orange slices;
- 2 slices of fresh ginger;
- 1 cinnamon stick;
- 1 sprig of rosemary;
- 1-2 teaspoons of honey.
Preparation:
To make winter tea, first boil water and wait 1-2 minutes. Pour the tea into a mug, add cloves, anise stars, ginger, cinnamon and rosemary. Pour hot water over everything and cover and brew for 6-8 minutes. Then we add orange slices, and when the warming infusion cools down slightly, we sweeten it with honey.
Thanks to all these additions, winter tea will warm us up. It will gain a citrus-spicy flavor with a herbal accent.
