UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, his spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said on Friday after Moscow’s attacks caused mass blackouts in Ukraine. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.
“These attacks have claimed many civilian lives and deprived millions of Ukrainians of basic services, including electricity, heating and water, at a time of acute humanitarian emergency,” said Dujarric.
“Attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law. Wherever they take place, they are unacceptable, inexcusable and must stop immediately.” emphasized Guterres’ spokesman.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia attacked Ukraine on Friday night with 36 missiles and 242 drones of various types, with air defenses neutralizing 226 drones and 18 missiles. Moscow called the attacks retaliatory and also used the medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile Orešnik (Lieska). Four people in Kyiv were killed and 20 residential buildings were damaged. the embassy of Qatar was also damaged. Ukraine declared that the attack poses a threat to Europe and tests Kiev’s allies.
