O signed an agreement with the to avoid punishment behind closed doors in the game against Ponte Preta, this Sunday (11), for the Campeonato Paulista, but the decision will have a direct impact on the club’s cash flow. As part of the agreement, Timão agreed to transfer percentages of the box office from two games, reducing revenue from matches played at the Neo Química Arena.

Under the agreement, 30% of the proceeds from the match against Ponte Preta will be donated to the STJD. In addition, Corinthians will also give up 15% of the revenue from the classic against São Paulo, valid for the third round of the group stage of the State Championship. The sanction is a consequence of episodes recorded in last year’s Campeonato Paulista final, against Palmeiras, when objects were thrown onto the pitch, flares were used and firecrackers were thrown during the final minutes of the match at the Neo Química Arena.

Initially, the club had been punished by the Court of Sports Justice (TJD) by playing matches behind closed doors. The Corinthians board appealed the decision and, after negotiation, managed to reverse the sporting measure into a financial penalty, formalized on the eve of the debut in the State Championship. With this, Corinthians will be able to count on the presence of fans in the first rounds of Paulistão, but will have part of the revenue from the games compromised as a result of the agreement signed and absorb a significant financial impact at a time of paying attention to accounts and trying to reorganize the budget for the season.
