The Norwegian Nobel Institute clarified this Saturday that María Corina Machado cannot donate the Nobel Peace Prize to the President of the United States, as she stated was her intention, nor to anyone else.
“Once announced, the Nobel Peace Prize cannot be revoked, transferred or shared with third parties,” the institute said in a brief statement, adding that “decision is final and irrevocable.”
“I would love to be able to tell you in person that we believe – the Venezuelan people, because this is a prize of the Venezuelan people – that we want to give it to them and share it with them,” the leader of the Venezuelan opposition told the presenter of Sean Hannity, on Monday.
“What he did is historic. It’s a huge step towards a democratic transition”added María Corina Machado who dedicated the award to Donald Trump as soon as she was announced as the winner.
On Friday, he said he was leaving meet with Maria Corina Machado next week and that would be “a great honor” if the Venezuelan opposition leader handed him the Nobel Peace Prize.
