Brazil competes this Sunday (11) in three categories: ‘Best Film – Drama’, ‘Best Film in a Non-English Language’ e ‘Best Actor – Drama’. The awards ceremony, the 83rd in history, is scheduled to take place at 10pm and will be held in Los Angeles, in the United States. The film ‘The Secret Agent’ is the Brazilian re-presentation at the awards, as is the actor. The film has already received more than 40 national and international awards, with 54 trophies in 35 awards.

‘The Secret Agent’ premiered in May 2025 and this is the first time that a Brazilian film has been nominated in the main category ‘Best Film – Drama’, in previous editions national films only appeared in the ‘Best Non-English Language Film’ nomination

‘One Battle After Another’ is the film with the most nominations for the 2026 Golden Globes, followed by ‘Valor Sentimental’, which has eight nominations. Winning the ‘Golden Globe’ is a great way to gain visibility for an Oscar nomination – despite the two awards being unrelated. The Oscar 2026 nominees come out on January 22nd.
‘The Secret Agent’ has already brought more than a million people to the cinema, in France there are almost 300 thousand, and the film will soon premiere in Spain, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
