Israeli Minister Gideon Saar called on the EU to put Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on the list of terrorists for violently suppressing demonstrations. They are planning a declaration on security with the German minister.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar on Sunday called on the European Union (EU) to include Iran’s Revolutionary Guards on its list of terrorist organizations. TASR informs about it based on the AFP report.
According to Saar, the reason is the violent suppression of ongoing demonstrations in Iran. “It is time to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guards in the European Union as a terrorist organization,” the Israeli minister wrote on the X social network during the visit of German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt to Israel.
Declaration on cooperation
“This is Germany’s long-term position and the importance of this issue is clear to everyone today,” added Saar, adding that the ministers, together with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, will sign a declaration on cooperation in the fields of security, cyber security and the fight against anti-Semitism.
Thousands of people have been protesting in Iran for two weeks in response to a deep economic crisis. According to activists, the interventions of the security forces resulted in the death of dozens of demonstrators. Authorities in the country have restricted access to the Internet since Thursday.
