The United States is calling on its citizens to leave Venezuela immediately due to the unstable security situation

The US State Department has urged US citizens to leave Venezuela immediately. The reason given was the ongoing danger from armed militias that are specifically looking for Americans.

The US State Department on Saturday urged Americans in Venezuela to leave the country “immediately”, saying armed militias were searching vehicles for US citizens. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

“The security situation in Venezuela remains unstable,” the ministry said in a security warning a week after US troops captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in a blitzkrieg.

Military intervention in Caracas

“Given the resumption of international flights, U.S. citizens in Venezuela should leave the country immediately,” the report said, warning of armed militias called “colectivos” searching cars for Americans or evidence of U.S. support.

After months of tension between the US and Venezuela, US troops stormed Caracas on Saturday night last week, captured Maduro and his wife and took them to court in New York. They are accused of several crimes, including narco-terrorism, Maduro maintains that he is innocent. After the capture of Maduro, Vice President Rodríguez became the acting head of state.
