The National Police has dismantled a criminal group that assaulted elderly people inside doorways. The thieves selected their victims near bank branches and shopping areas and followed them to their homes, attacking them inside the doorways.
“They surprised them by grabbing them tightly from the back, tearing off their jewelry and watches, and they did not hesitate to use great violence if they resisted,” describes the police note sent this Monday.
Four people have been arrested, two men and two women, as allegedly responsible for 12 robberies with violence and intimidation, membership in a criminal group, injuries and falsified documents.
According to the police, the investigation began last September after learning of the commission of a robbery with violence and intimidation against a couple in the select Madrid neighborhood of Salamanca. Four people entered the portal and after violently dragging them across the floor, they managed to steal a watch and two bracelets.
Parallel investigations
At the same time, an investigation was being carried out at the Ciudad Lineal district police station for the commission of four other robberies with violence of similar characteristics.
During the course of the investigation, the agents learned of the commission of four more violent robberies, committed in different districts of Madrid, in which the victims had suffered injuries.
As the investigations advanced, they managed to identify two men and two women as the alleged perpetrators of all these events. In addition, they concluded that they were responsible for another robbery perpetrated in Hospitalet de Llobregat on July 4 and another in Valladolid, on May 22.
Due to these events, on November 26, the police established a special device that culminated in the arrest of the four identified as allegedly responsible for the commission of 12 robberies with violence and intimidation, membership in a criminal group, injuries and falsification of documents. After being brought to justice, the judge ordered the immediate imprisonment of two of them.
