The Brazilian Football Confederation () released this Sunday (11), the time of the clash between , winner of the Brazilian Championship, and , champion of the Copa do Brasil, for the Supercopa do Brasil 2026. The two teams will face each other at 4pm on February 1st, at the Mané Garrincha stadium, in Brasília. The day and location of the competition had already been announced by the entity on December 31st. According to the CBF, the decision was taken after a study of next year’s calendar and the opinion of the clubs and federations in Rio and São Paulo. The stands will be divided equally between the red and black fans.
The two teams’ state games will be rescheduled. Flamengo would face Portuguesa in the Guanabara Cup on the 31st, while Corinthians would duel with Capivariano for Paulista on the 1st. This will be the second meeting between Corinthians and Flamengo in the Super Cup. In 1991, a year after Grêmio won the competition’s first title, the Parque São Jorge team, then national champion, defeated the Rio team, winner of the Copa do Brasil, 1-0, at the MorumBis stadium, on January 27, with a goal from Neto.
After that dispute, the Supercup was resumed by the CBF in 2020, with broad dominance by Flamengo, winners in 2020, 2021 and 2025. Atlético-MG (2022), Palmeiras (2023) and São Paulo (2024) have also won the trophy in recent years.
