A 10 year old child diedin the early hours of this Sunday (11), after being run over in the community of Fallet-Fogueteiro, central region of Rio de Janeiro. The victim was identified as Vitória Lima Teixeira.
The child’s motherKauany Leni Castro Teixeira, aged 32, was also hit and taken to the hospital Municipal Souza Aguiar.
According to PMERJ (Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro), mother and daughter were rescued by the driver himself involved in the collisionwho reported that the case occurred within the community. Vitória did not survive her injuries. Another childa boy, was also injured and received medical attention and was discharged from hospital.
Vitória’s wake is scheduled for 11 am this Tuesday (13), at the São João Batista Cemetery, in Botafogo. The burial is scheduled for 2pm.
After the incident, the driver, Márcio Queiroz Gentil, was taken to the 5th DP (Mem de Sá), where he was charged with manslaughter and culpable bodily injury while driving a motor vehiclequalified by drunkenness, according to PCERJ (Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro).
The custody hearing is scheduled for this Monday (12), when the Court must decide on the driver’s situation.
