Three suspects were arrested, one died, and four victims were released after an action by the Rio de Janeiro Military Police, this Sunday (11), in Niterói (RJ). The operation was motivated by an anonymous tip.
The police received information via Hotline that armed criminals had invaded an apartment on Rua Doutor Celestino, in the central region of the city, and taken four people hostage.
At the address, the PM stated that there was an exchange of gunfire with two suspects at the entrance to the building. In the shooting, one suspect died at the scene and a second, also shot, was rescued and taken to Alberto Torres State Hospital. There is no information about his health status.
Upon arriving at the apartment indicated by the complaints, the police began negotiating with the other two suspects, who surrendered and released the victims unharmed. Preliminary information indicates that the men arrested are members of the criminal faction Third Comando Puro (TCP).
In addition to the arrests, the police also seized a rifle, three pistols and a grenade. Six 556 rifle magazines, a ballistic vest, a pair of combat boots, seven radio transmitters and drugs were also seized.
This action received technical support from Disque Denúncia and Niterói City Hall, through the Municipal Integrated Management Office.
