Shortly before the vote of confidence in the new Czech government, there is a new twist in the ongoing dispute surrounding the controversial politician Filip Turek: The motorists’ party would like to make Turek, who was previously prevented from becoming environment minister by President Petr Pavel, as the government representative for climate policy. From this position, he is then supposed to de facto determine the line of the ministry without being officially sworn in as a member of the government.
