The Bahian won the Best Actor in a Drama Film category, beating names like Joel Edgerton (“Train of Dreams”), Oscar Isaac (“Frankenstein”), Dwayne Johnson (“Fighter’s Heart: The Smashing Machine”), Micheal B. Jordan (“Sinners”) and Jeremy Allen White (“Springsteen: Deliver From Nowhere”).

The Golden Globe win strengthens Moura’s season and helps his Oscar campaign. Last year, Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres won the Best Actress award for “I’m Still Here”. A few weeks later, she was nominated for cinema’s most coveted award.
What is “The Secret Agent” about?
Set in Recife in 1977, the title is a political thriller, which follows Marcelo, a professor who runs away from a mysterious past and returns to Recife in search of peace, but soon realizes that the city is far from being the refuge he is looking for.
