The amazing treasure, dating back to the Bronze Age, which was discovered 60 years ago in Spain, contains samples of alien metal.
This was established following a new analysis, which demonstrated that part of the treasures contained in it are made of meteoritic iron.
It is said that the treasure, known as the “Villena Treasure”, was discovered by researchers as early as 1963. It includes nearly 60 bottles, bowls and jewelry made of gold, silver, amber and iron.
Shortly after the discovery of the treasure, researchers noticed unusual details in the iron samples. The finds were described by the scientists who studied the treasure as being made of dark lead metal. It was covered with an iron-like oxide that was mostly cracked.
Now, according to a publication in Trabajos de Prehistoria, scientists have discovered that the iron used to make two artifacts was obtained from a meteorite that fell on our planet about a million years ago. To determine this, the scientists compared the two artifacts using mass spectrometry, which showed that the alloy used in their manufacture is comparable to meteoritic iron.
