Sumar considers that the PSOE housing decree “does not empathize with the drama that thousands of families are experiencing”

The coordinator of Movimiento Sumar, Lara Hernández, has once again demanded this Tuesday in RNE the extension of the rental contracts in the face of the “housing emergency that we are currently suffering.” Hernández has assured that his group will not support the PSOE’s housing proposal of an incentive to owners of up to 100% of what they pay in personal income tax for those rental income so that they do not raise it. Sumar demands direct intervention, via decree, to freeze these increases as was done in the pandemic.

The coordinator has criticized that the proposal of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, focuses on “granting tax credits to landlords” instead of “focusing on shielding and protecting the rights of tenants.” Sumar considers that “he does not empathize with the drama that thousands of families are experiencing in the face of the expiration of contracts in 2026, which is why he demanded the extension of “more than 600,000 rental contracts that will affect more than one and a half million families.” (Servimedia)
