Minister Šutaj Eštok also lost to the Čurill family at the Constitutional Court: His complaint was rejected

The Constitutional Court (ÚS) of the Slovak Republic rejected the constitutional complaint of Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (Hlas-SD) against last year’s “default” judgment of the Bratislava IV Municipal Court in a dispute with a group of police officers called the Čurills. This follows from the information published by the ÚS SR in its press release.

  • The Constitutional Court rejected the constitutional complaint of Interior Minister Šutaj Eštok.
  • The minister lost the dispute with the Čurillo police group due to a default judgment.
  • He must apologize to the police and pay them 90,000 euros in compensation.
  • The money in the minister’s account has already been blocked by the executor to ensure payment.
  • Šutaj Eštok claims that the court ignored his arguments and did not adequately contact him.

The Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic decided on this in a panel consisting of chairman Miroslav Duriš and judges Jana Baricová and Miloš Maďar at a closed session on Friday, January 9. Šutaj Eštok has to apologize to the policemen around Ján Čurilla based on the judgment of the Municipal Court Bratislava IV of September 10, 2025 for comparing him to the duly convicted Mikuláš Černák. He also has six police officers to pay a total of EUR 90,000 in compensation, court costs and default interest.

As explained by the legal representative of the police officers, Peter Kubina, on November 11 on the social network, According to him, Šutaj Eštok did not receive e-mail and thus the court lost “in absentia”. At the time, the lawyer added that the executor had blocked funds on the minister’s account for the payment of compensation.

Šutaj Eštok responded on the social network at the time that he stood by his words. Due to his workload, he hardly uses the public administration portal. According to him, the court was not interested in his arguments. He also blames the judge for not trying to contact him otherwise.
