Álvaro Lira, known as Alvinho, son of the former president of the Chamber of Deputies (-AL), said he shared with his father a motorcycle given to the population at an event held by the City Hall of São Miguel dos Campos, a city 50 km from the capital Maceió.
The city has been promoting, for 15 years, Christmas Prize, in which residents who shop at local stores during the end of the year compete for various prizes. The former president of was awarded the sponsorship of a motorcycle, one of the most hyped products for this year’s draw.
On social media, the vehicle appears with the name of Álvaro Lira in the format of a campaign slogan. Appointed as the , it is quoted for 2026, if the father launches the .
“Today it comes to fruition [a noite de entrega dos prêmios]with a car being awarded by the city hall, a motorcycle by state deputy Fernando Pereira, a motorcycle shared between me and my father”, said Alvinho during the award ceremony, on Thursday night (8).
When mentioning sharing the motorcycle with his father, Alvinho’s speech was interrupted by laughter. Arthur Lira was also present at the event.
The deputy was mentioned as the sponsor of the motorcycle in an Instagram post made by the three organizers of the event – the city hall, Acem (Associação Comercial Empresarial Miguelense) and the Chamber of Retail Managers in the region. When contacted, Lira and Alvinho’s advisors said that the two did not pay for the vehicle and that the mention was only to identify who would draw and deliver the product.
“The use of Álvaro Lira’s name in the exposed material was merely informal, just to identify who would draw the product”, he says in a note sent to the report.
In November posts about the event, the city hall had already announced that there would be almost R$200,000 in prizes, including a new car and two motorcycles. The three vehicles were already identified with the names of the municipal management itself, Fernando Pereira and Arthur Lira, in place of Alvinho.
In total, 47 prizes were drawn, including refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, televisions, beds, washing machines and R$1,000 in cash.
In May 2025, the Sheet reported the participation of Arthur Lira in the municipality of Rio Largo, in the metropolitan region of Maceió. The deputy’s name appeared on a banner at the event.
