Spain summons the Iranian ambassador in Madrid to convey its rejection of the “violence exercised” against the protesters | Spain

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Iranian ambassador in Madrid, Reza Zabib, this Tuesday to convey its “strong rejection and condemnation” for the “violence exercised against peaceful protesters” in the protests against the regime in which more than 600 people have already died.

“We must respect the right of peaceful demonstration of Iranian men and women, their freedom of expression. Communications with the outside world, including the Internet, must be immediately restored. And we are going to remind them that the right of free communication of citizens is also a fundamental right. That the arbitrary arrests that have occurred these days must stop and that Iran must return to the dialogue tables and the negotiation tables,” explained the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, in an interview in Catalonia Radio.

“The Government of Spain condemns the violence carried out against peaceful protesters in Iran and demands that the country’s authorities respect and guarantee the exercise of freedom of expression and peaceful demonstration,” the ministry announced in a statement on Monday. Foreign Affairs assures that “it is in contact with the Embassy in Tehran, which remains fully operational to serve the Spanish colony” in the country, made up of about 150 compatriots.

On the other hand, the minister revealed in the same interview that three other Spaniards with dual Spanish-Venezuelan nationality were released from Venezuelan prisons this Monday, which adds to the five releases last week. Albares has described this new step as “very positive” and has revealed that one of the released women will arrive in Spain this Tuesday, while another has decided to remain in the country and the third has not yet made a decision about her future.
