Thor reaffirms his pre-candidacy for the Government, denies rumors and defends Jorge Viana in the Senate

The doctor and pre-candidate for the Government of Acre, Thor Dantas (PSB), spoke to the ContilNet this Tuesday (13) about his intention to run for the state Executive in 2026, after speculation grew within the left camp about a possible withdrawal from the project.

According to sources, Thor could give up his candidacy if the president of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), Jorge Viana, gave up running for a seat in the Senate. The infectious disease specialist, however, stated that decisions external to the Brazilian Socialist Party do not interfere with his pre-candidacy.

“Our candidacy is conditioned on an essentially partisan issue and does not depend on issues other than those related to the PSB itself,” he stated.

Despite this, Thor recognized the importance of Jorge Viana’s eventual candidacy for the Senate to strengthen the political field to which he belongs.

“Of course, for us, having Jorge as a candidate for the Senate would be very good. Jorge has a political and administrative legacy in the history of Acre, in the construction of public policies, which is gigantic, and our candidacy would certainly be stronger with Jorge being a candidate for the Senate”, he concluded.
