Yesterday, the Government of Venezuela released three other Spanish prisoners, as announced by Minister Albares

The Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Albares, has announced that the Government of Caracas has released three other Spanish-Venezuelan prisoners.

“I want to inform all citizens that yesterday there were three new releases, which join the group of five that are already in Spain,” said the head of diplomacy in an interview this Tuesday on Catalunya Ràdio. “They are all binational citizens. A Spanish citizen has decided to remain in Venezuela of his own free will. Another citizen has decided to come and will fly to Spain today. Another citizen is thinking about whether she prefers to stay in Venezuela or return to Spain, as we are offering to all those who are released.”

The minister did not want to influence the role of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in the release of prisoners, except to emphasize that this mediation has been carried out at the request of the prisoners themselves, not on behalf of the Government of Spain.

The Government applauds these steps by the new Government of Delcy Rodríguez, vice president of Nicolás Maduro until he was captured and taken to the United States, after an assault and bombing of the country. “This is a second step that we certainly consider very positive and we encourage the Venezuelan government in this new stage of Venezuela to continue advancing along that line.”
