At a meeting, center-right parties point out resistance to Flávio Bolsonaro

In his last action as Minister of Justice, gave a “gift” to the government and a huge headache to the senator, by responding to a request from congresswoman Dandara Tonantzin (PT-MG) to investigate the former president’s son for posts about Lula’s associations with the dictator Nicolás Maduro.

The investigation against the senator is absurd, as it violates freedom of expression. This is about criminalizing opinion and another case of political persecution. The case would already be serious if it were against an ordinary citizen. But as it is against a senator of the Republic, who has parliamentary immunity, the investigation becomes even more unjustifiable.

Many jurists say it will lead to nothing. But based on the pace of the carriage and recent precedents, I have my doubts. Just the request for an investigation is intimidating, even if the senator is not guilty. If the country follows and insists on this route, it is a very dangerous path to follow.

Today, PT members celebrated, but tomorrow the cannon of censorship, in the form of judicial intimidation, could be turned against the left. Precedents were set. Freedom of expression must be defended under any circumstances
