Government of SP intensifies castrations in support of the pet cause – 01/14/2026 – Panel

The government (Republicans) intends to intensify at the beginning of the year a program launched in December of free neutering of dogs and cats in the state of . The action, called the Pro Pet SP Program, is carried out by the Department of Environment, Infrastructure and Logistics.

Tarcísio has been investing in the pet issue, a topic that has been growing among the population and which tends to be quite popular on social networks.

Between January 15th and 22nd, the program will serve five municipalities in the metropolitan region: Mairiporã (15th and 16th), Arujá (17th and 18th), Guararema (19th), Salesópolis (20th) and Juquitiba (22nd). At its debut, in December, 874 free castrations were carried out in Indaiatuba, Cabreúva and Campinas.

The program plans to carry out 52,850 free castrations by July this year, in 256 municipalities, with an investment of R$10.5 million.

“Pro Pet SP inaugurates a new phase by placing the State at the forefront of carrying out castrations. By taking services directly to municipalities, we are able to respond more quickly to local demands and ensure that pet care is an effective public policy, present in all regions”, says Natália Resende, head of the secretariat.

The Tarcísio administration also allocated R$45 million for the construction of public veterinary clinics and mobile animal care units in the state.
