Nestlé CEO apologizes for infant formula recall

ZURICH, Jan 14 (Reuters) – Nestlé chief executive Philipp Navratil has apologized for the recall in dozens of countries of some batches of the company’s infant nutrition products, a setback that dealt a fresh blow to the Swiss consumer goods giant after a challenging 2025.

“Before I explain the situation in more detail, I first want to sincerely apologize for the concern and inconvenience this may have caused to parents, caregivers and our customers,” Navratil said in a video published by the company.

Navratil said all recalls have already been announced.

The CEO added that there have been no confirmed cases of illnesses related to the products to date.

The recall has put more pressure on the KitKat and Nescafé maker and its new chief executive Navratil, who is trying to revive growth through a portfolio review following management changes.

Navratil said ‍that in December, the company confirmed a quality issue at ‌one of its factories in the Netherlands and initiated ‍a preventive recall in several European countries where affected products were sold from the factory in question.
