The Minister of Ports and Airports, who will leave command of the department in April, informed that he will campaign ‘alongside the president helping Pernambuco and Brazil’
The Minister of Ports and Airports, confirmed this Tuesday (14) that he will leave command of the department in April to dedicate himself fully to the 2026 electoral project, . Pre-candidate for he stated that the non-compliance will follow the legal calendar and will allow greater focus on building his candidacy.
“I am working hard to increasingly consolidate our candidacy for the Senate. I feel ready and prepared to represent Pernambuco in the Federal Senate”, he declared. Costa Filho highlighted his political career, which includes stints as a councilor in Recife, state deputy, secretary of state, federal deputy and, currently, minister. “For all of this, I feel prepared. I know the economic and social challenges of our state and I am sure that we will run a great campaign, presenting proposals that speak to the future of Pernambuco”, he stated.
The minister considered, however, that a majority election involves multiple factors. “A majority election does not just depend on a personal desire, but on a set of factors. Still, I am sure that, alongside President Lula, we will build a beautiful victory,” he said. According to him, the president has encouraged his candidacy for the Senate. “I have spoken with the president who knows that I have always tried to do politics with decency, loyalty and correctness”, he added.
According to Costa Filho, the positive evaluation of his name in voting intention surveys has reinforced the viability of the candidacy and encouraged him to continue with the project. “I am ready and prepared to continue alongside President Lula helping Pernambuco and Brazil”, he declared.
Silvio Costa Filho also stated that he was satisfied with the results achieved as head of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, highlighting the growth of the port sector and Brazilian civil aviation during his tenure.
