The FBI searches the home of a journalist from 'The Washington Post' for the alleged leak of state secrets

This Wednesday, the United States Federal Police (FBI) searched the home of Hannah Natanson, a journalist for the American newspaper, as an investigation into the alleged leak of state secrets progresses.

Although it is unknown what specific information has given rise to these measures, the newspaper ‘The New York Times’ has confirmed the registration, which it considers “extremely rare” in cases of this type.

The journalist, who covered the measures promoted by the US president, Donald Trump, to dismiss thousands of officials at the federal level, published a report about it in December. Many of these workers have shared their personal cases with the journalist and have accused the Government of “exerting pressure” against them, as the aforementioned media has explained.

During the writing of the report, some of his sources admitted to “leaking information,” including a member of the Justice Department staff, who then said “the dangers” this entailed. “Getting the truth and bringing the facts to light is much more important,” he assured then, on condition of anonymity.
