Castilla y León will ex officio compensate the affected families of the Burgos Hospital and “deeply regrets” what happened | Society

The Minister of Economy and Finance and spokesman for the Regional Government of Castilla y León, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, this Thursday “deeply” regretted what happened at the Burgos University Hospital (HUBU), leaving a third in serious condition and two others affected. The politician has assured that the autonomous Administration “will assume the patrimonial responsibility that may correspond” and will act “ex officio” in this area.

“The first thing to send is the message that we deeply regret what happened, it is an event that, although it is due to human error, causes tremendous pain to the families and victims, and this is what we assume from the autonomous Administration,” said Fernández Carriedo in the press conference after the Government Council.

The spokesperson has expressed his support “for the victims and their families” and has expressed the wish for a “speedy recovery” for the affected people and, especially, for the patient who continues to be admitted to the ICU. “The hospital has apologized and we accept those apologies and extend them from the Board,” he stressed.

Fernández Carriedo recalled that the hospital manager, Carlos Cartón, assumed his position one day after the error was detected and that, together with the head of the Oncology Service, Enrique Lastra, he met with the families “to offer them detailed information about what happened.” In this sense, he stressed that the regional Executive “will always be at the side of the victims and their families” and that the management of the case “has been done with maximum transparency and sensitivity” since the facts became known.
