Known only as “B”, she remained anonymous until the date of her death, at the age of 48, victim of rare spinal cancer. It claimed to have been conceived during an affair that the Queen singer had with a friend’s wife.
The woman who is the lead singer of Queen, Freddie Mercurydied at the age of 48, victim of a rare malignant neoplasm in the bones.
Known only as “B”, she was the subject of a book published in 2025 entitled “Love, Freddie”, by Lesley-Ann Jonesbased largely on “secret diaries” of Mercury, which he gave to his daughter before his death in 1991.
According to the British author and journalist, “B” told her that he had been accidentally conceived during an affair that the rock singer had with a friend’s wife.
Her husband, Thomas, declared in a statement that “B” died “at peace after a long battle with a chordomaa rare cancer of the spine, leaving two children aged nine and seven”.
“AB is now with his beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts”, he stated. “His ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps,” said Thomas.
When Jones first announced his book, the claim that Mercury had fathered a secret daughter was met with great skepticism by several of the people closest to him.
According to “Love, Freddie”, Mercury maintained a close relationship with the child, who he visited regularly, and handed him 17 volumes of diaries detailed personal details, which she kept secret.
In the biography, Lesley-Ann Jones says that the songs “Bijou” and “Don’t Try So Hard” were written about “Bibi”, and that the singer also called his daughter your “trésor”French word for treasure, and its “little frog“.
“I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who came to me with a selfless goal: to put aside all those who had carte blanche with Freddie’s story for 32 years, to challenge his lies and the rewriting of his life, and reveal the truth”, says Lesley-Ann Jones.
In statements to , last year, Mary Austin, Mercury’s closest friend, to whom he left a large part of his inheritancestated that at no time did the singer tell him that he had fathered a daughter, nor did he see him write a diary, in which “B” claimed that he detailed the “very close and loving” relationship between them until his death in 1991.
“Freddie was very open, and I can’t imagine that he would have wanted to, or been able to, keep such a joyful event a secreteither from me or from other people closer to him”, said Austin.
“The truth is that simply I’m not the keeper of such a secret. I never knew of any children, nor of any diaries. If Freddie had actually had a daughter without me knowing anything about it, that would be amazing to me,” said Austin.
If Mercury had had a daughter, “would have brought tremendous joy to Freddie and everyone who cared about him, including Freddie’s parents. I believe they would have welcomed her with all the love in their hearts. But I don’t remember Freddie ever talking about starting a family,” he added.
According to the biography published by Lesley-Ann Jones, the singer began to write diaries on June 20, 1976when she first learned of her pregnancy, two days after Queen released “You’re My Best Friend”, from their 1975 album “A Night at the Opera”.
